Yiwu Market Update Before Chinese New Year

Yiwu Market Update Before Chinese New Year

Date: February 9, 2026
Location: Yiwu International Trade Market, China

Today is seven days before Chinese New Year, the most important traditional holiday in China. I am currently at Yiwu International Trade Market, sharing a real-time update on the market situation.

After a full year of business, many shop owners and suppliers have started to close their stores and prepare to return home for the holiday. As shown in the video, some sections of the market are already quieter, and more shops will gradually close in the coming days.

Yiwu Market normally operates all year with almost no breaks. Chinese New Year is the only period when the market pauses, usually for around 20 days. During this time, production, sampling, and shipping may slow down or temporarily stop. Most business activities will gradually resume in March.

If you are planning to visit Yiwu, place orders, or arrange sourcing, it is strongly recommended to avoid the Chinese New Year period and plan ahead. This update is shared to help international buyers better understand the timing and make informed decisions.
